Low minimum investment You can invest as little as $25 each time you contribute, and you don't have to contribute each month or even each year.
Multiple contribution methods You can contribute by automatic investment, electronic bank transfer, payroll deduction (if available through your employer), or check, or by moving assets from other college savings vehicles.
Opportunity to earn free money for college Take advantage of the free Upromise rewards service, which returns a percentage of your spending at hundreds of America's leading companies and can transfer that money periodically to your plan account.
13 great investment choices Choose from 4 age-based savings tracks that adjust your assets over time to more conservative allocations as your beneficiary nears college and 9 individual portfolios that you adjust yourself according to your own investment strategy and risk tolerance. Create a custom asset allocation by selecting up to five investment options.
High account maximum You can contribute on behalf of a beneficiary until the total balance of all College Savings Iowa accounts held for the same beneficiary reaches an aggregate maximum balance, which is currently $320,000. Please note: Before investing in any 529 plan, you should consider whether your or the beneficiary's home state offers a 529 plan that provides its taxpayers with favorable state tax and other benefits that are only available through investment in the home state's 529 plan. You also should consult your financial, tax, or other advisor to learn more about how state-based benefits (or any limitations) would apply to your specific circumstances. You also may wish to contact directly your home state's 529 plan(s), or any other 529 plan, to learn more about those plans' features, benefits, and limitations. Keep in mind that state-based benefits should be one of many appropriately weighted factors to be considered when making an investment decision.
